Experience Mazatlan: Beaches and Culture

A city located in the northwest of Mexico in the state of Sinaloa, Mazatlán is situated 21 kilometers south of the Tropic of Cancer. The climate is exceptional year-round, being tropical sub-humid with an average temperature from October to May of 30 degrees Celsius and from June to September of 29 degrees Celsius.

Mazatlán, as a tourist destination, combines sun and beach with the architectural richness of its Historic Center, featuring Neoclassical and French Baroque details and finishes that contribute to its unique beauty among Mexico’s tourist destinations. The Historic Center of Mazatlán, known as “Old Mazatlán,” was declared a National Historic Heritage Site by the Federal Government of Mexico in 2001.

Modern hotels and restaurants line its spectacular Av. Del Mar, Zona Dorada, Marina Mazatlán, Sábalo Cerritos, and Nuevo Mazatlán. The city boasts over 17 kilometers of beautiful beaches such as Playa Norte, Playa Gaviotas, and Playa Venados, ideal for surfing, diving, and sport fishing for Marlin and Sailfish.

Here you will also find sites endowed with lush natural resources, like Cerro del Crestón, where you can engage in activities such as ecotourism and climbing, reaching its summit, which features a lighthouse considered the second largest natural lighthouse in the world, after the Rock of Gibraltar. Additionally, Mazatlán offers excellent golf courses with ocean views and two marinas that provide docking and maintenance services for all boats.

Among the cultural and sporting events held in this port city are the Great Pacific Marathon in December, the Mazatlán Cultural Festival, the Sinaloa Arts Festival, and the “Mazatlán Carnival,” one of the most famous worldwide.

The Malecón of Mazatlán is considered one of the longest in the world, stretching approximately 21 kilometers along the Pacific coast. Along this stretch, you will find everything from large cliffs, monuments, roundabouts, and old buildings to hotels and more.
